Why Wishart park run is so popular

Wishart Park run celebrating 2 years

Interested in a run or walking?

Every Saturday at 7 am over 150 runners and walkers participate in the local, free, timed 5 km distance run at Wishart Community Park in Greenwood Street. On the 13th of August, this running community event will celebrate its 2-year birthday and over 100 events.

Walk and run

This grass root running movement started in Australia 2011 and has had great successes to now be in over a 170 run locations with 250,000 runners every weekend. A significant part of the parkrun’s success is the culture. It promotes inclusiveness, personal best times, helping and supporting others as either volunteers or participants and personal recognition.

Local Wishart resident and Wishart Parkrun Event Director, Adrian Royce, describes the course as “The best of the local area with a flat course through some amazing bushland – three different parks following the Bulimba creek.” He describes it “as a world away from the cares of the world.”
